Ben the Head Chef has left the C&W, not sure what it is like now, try the Sportsman which is in Seasalter, the place is a dump, the location nice but the food stunning, the puds werent up to much so went for the seriously gorgeous soft cheeses. Wheelers is goods too.

Yep Wheelers is most famous and prob the best. The place is obviously renowned for Oysters so if your into them go to the Whitstable Oyster fishery, lots to see and lots to eat , Oyster style.
Maybe give us an update..

Went to the crab and winkle in the end, it was OK but not really as good as I expected from the reviews tbh. Admittedly it was a Sunday night. The flavours just didnt seem that developed or well-matched...the bisque tasted a bit like tomato soup, and teh fish of the day (bream) was nice, but was matched with a tzatziki-like sauce of yoghurt and pickled cucumbers. it didnt quite go - there wasnt really enough on the plate to round out the flavour..it kind of overpowered the fish.

/edit: and the oysters in the restaurant weren't as plump as the ones from the shop outside in the day, which was a bit wierd.

The reviews were from when Ben was the Chef and he is very talented, lost him to the big smoke frown
