Got a terrible review by Jay Raynor, and isn't a patch on the original apparently. A shame if true, since as kids that was the best place my folks could take us on a Sunday.

Now I live in Kentucky and the ribs are to die for!

The newspaper reviews have been terrible, so bad that I saw an article on how bad they were. The implication of the article though was that customers like it and it's very busy. I'd browse the web for customer review sites.

IIRC, it has been opened by former staff of the original, not the original owners.

Hi mate
Definately one to stay away from.
The best place for an authentic american experience and great food (loads of awards for food and wine) is Big Easy in Chelsea.

I don't even really see how the new Rib Shack has any claim to be the old one - Peyton died when his Range Rover rolled over, the restaurants were sold to Capitol Radio or someone, and there can't be anyone working at the new one who worked at the old one.

The onion loaf at the original was something else though.

Interesting - after Tom Parker-Bowls review I was almost tempted - as I do like good ribs. However, by the sound of things it's now turned into an expensive TGIs, with worse service.

Like the sound of the Big Easy, but I always thought it was a bit too "Henry J Beans" from the outside. Worth a try tho...

Ironic that you mention HJB, since that was also one of the mykindatown/Peyton restaurants (HJB, Ribshack, Chicago Pizza Pie Factory, Meatpackers).

As I was such a fan back in the day (and its all booked, and Mrs Sam.r has been dying to go) I think we will go !!!

At least with the ste reviews my expectations are now quite low...

If its edible then I will be pleased.

Thanks people!

Ha, funny that! Thankyou Bob Peyton - I have fond memories of being 16 and getting drunk on Long Island Ice Teas at the King's Road Henry J Beans. I don't really remember it being a food place too but of course it must have been...

Well,

It was OK lacked the warm atmosphere the old place had (from what I can remember) Ribs were nice, nothing amazing though.

I would go back with a crowd if we were up town or going out but I wouldnt make the effort just to go there.

Thanks for the recommendation Prit, it was really good, managed to get a table downstairs. Food was really good, Voodoo wings were the star of the show. Portions are more than generous, the ribs looked fantastic but you need a good appetite as you get two full racks in a portion. I had the kobe burger which was good, girlfriend had the chilli lime fajitas, also very good. Two courses each with 2 cocktails and 2 beers & coffees, 85 quid. thumbup
