Ok, so I'm guessing most of us are single blokes, can't cook/won't cook? But at the same time don't want to turn into sumo wrestlers. Probably have 3 or 4 things we can cook/be bothered to cook. It would be interesting then in that case to combine all our 3 or 4 things and have a lot of potential crap to eat that doesn't take long to cook smile

Heres a chance to post your (serious) recipes (no fking beans on toast please or I will kill you literally), but, they must only take 20mins maximum to prepare and cook from start to finish.....and they'd better be tasty 'cos if I cook one of these things when I have a woman around and she ends up with a bad stomach and I don't get laid I'll be looking for you..... biggrin

I'll start...

Healthy Tasty Kebabs:

Chop some chicken breasts up. Let them marinate in Tikka marinate for between 10mins and 24hrs. Chuck them in the pan. Medium heat. A wok actually, not a pan. With a cover preferably because the chicken stays tender and doesn't dry out. Sprinkle on some black pepper. Add some Nando's Hot Peri Peri sauce. Leave it to cook for 10 mins turning occasionally. Meanwhile bang some pitta bread in the microwave for a minute. Cut them open. Grate some Mexicana cheese/mature cheddar and grab a bag of crispy lettuce. Put those in the pitta. Put the chicken in. Pour on some French Salad Dressing. Bobs your uncle.

Go......

Ok, small tin of tuna. Drain the (sunflower) oil and mix with Helman's mayonnaise. Place at the bottom of a ramakin or oven durable serving bowl. Drain a small tin of chopped tomatoes and make that the second layer. Add some salt and cracked black pepper. For the third layer, mix breadcrumbs with grated cheese.

Bake until crisp on top, perhaps making a hole in the centre to allow moisture to evaporate so the breadcrumbs don't end up damp.

A good snack but even better as a starter to a main course.

20 mins including prep - you are going to be very limited in what you can do. A basic pasta from scratch is going to be around 30 mins (such as simple tomato based sauce) but if you are really useless in the kitchen, just go get the pre made stuff from the supermarket (pricey, but cheaper than a takeaway - it doesn't take much skill to make something so much better though).

Stir frys are quick to cook (with noodles - quicker than rice), but takes some time with chopping unless you want to pay for the overpriced pack of pre chopped veg from the supermarket.

A Thai beef salad comes to mind as a quick number - prep the greens (easy), fry a cut of beef on a griddle / pan etc. and slice, and a dressing. Protein, greens, and tasty.

My end of a long day quick whip up meals from what is usually in the fridge/cupboard (or the shops on the way home) is Penne Matriciana.

Fry some onion ( small onion or 1/2 med onion per person) in Olive Oil until transparent/slightly golden on a med heat - about 3-4 min
Add chopped bacon (I prefer smoked) about 100-120g per person
Once golden and fat starts to render, about 5 min, add chopped garlic (1 pp) and chilli (to taste) and fry a few min at a reduced heat
Add chopped tomatoes (1/2 can pp, or fresh if you have them) and reduce which takes about 8 mins.
A few grinds of pepper, and serve with pasta - penne is the traditional pasta it is mated to (Italians are very particular on what pasta goes with what sauce), else what ever you have. Cooking time around 20 mins. Enjoy with a glass of red smile

Prawn Stir Fry.

- One decent sized packet of pre cooked king prawns.
- Some oyster sauce
- Equal quantities of freshly chopped ginger/garlic/chillies (about 2 or 3 cm of ginger, 3 or 4 cloves of garlic and a couple of green or red chillies)
- A red and a green pepper chopped into large chunks
- One small onion, quartered then separated
- One carrot, matchsticked
- Some straight to wok noodles

- Get the wok nice and hot and pop in a bit of oil. Then add the onion, keep stirring it to prevent the edges blackening. Just give them a minute or so.

- Add the carrot, peppers, ginger, garlick, chillies, prawns and a few good glugs of oyster sauce. Cook and stir for 2 or 3 minutes.

- Add the noodles and a splash of soy sauce. Don't over season as the sauces are fairly salty.

Once the noodles have separated and warmed through, serve.

Should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to prep and heat the wok and 5 minutes or so to cook.

Mushy peas? yuck

Put new potatoes on. Get frying pan hot while waiting, put in a little oil and two salmon fillets skin side down cook for five minutes then turn over, cook two minutes then pour over a good splash of soy and the juice of a lime. As it reduces shake the pan to coat the salmon. Dish up with veg of your choice.

Teryaki (ish) salmon and new potatoes, done.[/Ramsey]

Lived on variations of that for almost a year. Replace the tuna with a chicken breast or a nice steak and it works just as well, perhaps with a few boiled and halved new potatoes dotted round too.

Is it lunchtime yet ?

And how exactly are you proposing to shag her and handle a frying pan at the same time eh?

Far too poncy.

Boil up some rice, 17 mins

Whilst thats going on, oil in frying pan add chipolatas, chorizo, peanuts, peppers, bacon/pancetta, onion, the odd prawn if you're fond of insects of the sea, fry it all off until the paprika starts to come out of the chorizo, add the rice, one quick fry off, in the bowl.

Rice and st.

Done.

soften onions and garlic in a pan
add a bit of fish or veg stock
drop in a salmon fillet
put spagetti on to boil
when the salmon is nearly done drop in some brocolli, sliced mushrooms and asparagus
drain spagetti
make sure that the stock has reduced quite a bit, then stir in a few spoonfulls of creme fraiche (sp?)
mix with spagetti and serve.
