I am hoping someone with japanese/chinese knowledge can tell me how to cook them
we bought lots of food from our local wing yip supermarket. and Jools bought mochi. no cooking instructions nothing.
so we did a bit of web research and decided to oven cook in oil.
they are edible but completley spread all over the cooking sheet.
How is one to cook these delights?

OOOooo i love mochi... is it the white ball with the coconut bits on the outside? or its floury on the outside?

my mum knows how to make them so will ask her...
i think you use glutinous flour make the outside bit... er i should ask my mum instead... smile

Can you describe how it looks before you cooked it? My mum (Japanese!) buys it is small individually wrapped squares, and I think she then gently fries them and somehow, magically, they become mochi cakes!

If you can let me know what type you have bought I will ask her the best way to cook it smile
