The juicier the better. Jack Links is easily available and real juicy but it feels a little too processed. I've imported stuff from Brazil and Eastern Europe but my favourite is the stuff in the larger Sainsburys stores - can't remember the name though.
Beef jerky is the ultimate road trip food. Steak in a bag - what's not to like?

Biltong is better tasting. Waitrose sell it
Biltong +1
Buy it from proper South African deli if poss... !
The waitrose stuff is ok but well below what you can get.
however if you like the waitrose stuff look on the pack as you can buy direct from their supplies at a fraction of the cost

If you want the real stuff then "Blue Rock" in Bisley is brilliant.
They make it there and its as good as you are going to get anywhere
HTH

If it's jerky your after, Sainsburys sell a lovely selection (Rocking JR or something).
This is the stuff: Suzman's hot piri piri biltong
You can buy it at Harrod's, however if you order online from the manufacturer you can choose exactly the degree of dryness and / or fattiness you want. Bone dry with no fat for me.
