I'm cooking for mrs hornet this Thursday and am devoid of inspiration... anyone help with some suggestions/recipes? I'm thinking lamb or beef in some interesting glaze or sauce - please do help me (and my poor mrs hehe ) in my hour of need!

How about home made lasange?

Get some fresh mince, mushrooms, onions etc - cheat and cook then throw in some ragu sauce before she turns up - make the cheese sauce from scratch (I can give you the recipe) when shes there so it looks like your making it all yourself.

Then just use fresh pasta sheets, put it together and stick it in the oven for an hour - giving you time to be romantic/get pissed..

Its a nice idea, but we do eat lasagne (Tesco's finest I'm afraid, not homemade getmecoat ) quite a lot, so was thinking of something a little bit different.

Maybe a lamb shank on a bed of mash could be a good idea - something a bit more unusual iyswim.

I'm a fan of lamb shanks - always a nice tender meat - though be careful about cooking instructions, as usually they tell you to overcook it... wink

how about roast leg of lamb (studded with sprigs of rosemary +/- garlic)

served with roast or mashed potatoes and some veg.

easy to make and lick

ETA - you don't need an interesting glaze. just rub down with olive oil and sprinkle some rock salt on before cooking yum

Thanks for the tip! Its funny, when searching for any info on cars I usually do a search to check if its been mentioned before, I didn't think to do that in this forum!!

I noticed the thread about 3 pages back where you cooked a rack of lamb - also saw plotloss suggesting a honey and garlic baste to rub in, I think I'll give that a whirl!
