Vodka - Freezer?

Just got a bottle of Zubrowka, mainly to stop Mrs R5 drinking Tesco Value Meths, am I right in thinking it should be stored in the freezer? It will be for mixing and some straight drinking.

I doubt it needs to be stored in the freezer, but its probably best.

I think that Vodka with an alcohol content of 40% and above will not freeze at domestic freezer temps.

It also depends on the proof value - but only shitty shitty vodka will freeze, and you don't want to be drinking that anyway

In my experience you need about -20 to freeze a regular quality vodka.

You don't freeze the vodka, but you are supposed to keep it in the freezer. It makes it like a syrup and is far more pleasant to drink. It says so on most bottles actually, but hardly anyone does it. When I ran a pub I used to keep a bottle in the freezer for certain customers. It's like the difference between drinking a cold beer or a warm one.

Vodka definitely better from the frezer, as is Tequila, brough some back from Mexico last month and even though its good quality stuff, we do as the locals in Mexico do, and make sure it's well chilled....it makes for better drinking.

Make sure the cap fits tightly before you lie it down in the freezer basket though...

Very good quality Vodka - keep in freezer, drink straight in a small tumbler over ice.

Absolut etc - keep in a place which isn't in direct contact with heat, drink with chosen mixer in a tall glass with lots of ice (Just have a look about a Vodke bar)

Any crazily named cut price crap - use for lighting BBQ'S (only give you a horrible hangover if you drink it)

cranberry juice is also nice, as is tonic and a slice of lime

If you can get some, Smirnoff Norsk (has a blue tinge to it with a slight "berry" flavour) is ideal for storing in the freezer, but - as above - any good quality voddie will be better from a freezer anyway. Always served with an ice cube or two, and always in a chilled glass.
