I've been buying en Primeur for a few years now and they have always arrived from a number of sources, but this year I was expecting a 2004 Leoville Barton from 1855.com and they still can't deliver it

Every time i call it's another month away. My Lascombes is ready for delivery, but I fear that they have never had the Leoville Barton and have been speculatively selling in bond, wines they have not acquired.

Does anyone else know of a bottling problem with Leoville this year, or have others already received their 2004 wines?

Any advice on how I can chase and make a legal claim against a French company would be greatly appreciated

I didn't buy any Leoville in 2004 so I can't say for certain, but I haven't heard of any difficulties in bottling the 2004 and I would be surprised if an outfit like Leoville had such a problem.

Can't give any definitive advice on how to pursue a French firm but I know that here in Ireland, the European Union assists in cross-border consumer disputes. The UK equivalent is at www.ukecc.net and it might be worth a call to see if they can assist or advise further.

Hope that helps and that you get your claret!

Great, thanks. Certainly their website looks like exactly the thing I need, I've dropped them a note to see if they can help

James,

Just to follow up, I was at my local friendly wine merchants this evening and they had several cases of '04 Barton waiting to be delivered. They also hadn't heard anything about a bottling problem.

Hope it works out OK,

Mark
