Can anyone suggest a decent farm type supplier? I'm looking to buy half a lamb etc. and similar amounts of pork/beef etc. to fill the freezer.

Any suggestions around the Bristol area or other suppliers that would deliver?

Cheers

Hmm when you say Bristol & area.........how big an 'area' are you thinking? If it's for freezing and it's half an animal plus, I guess you'll be doing a big shop in one go.........

Only there's a meat farm shop attached to a farm/abbatoir near us and they do half a lamb etc.

It's on the road out of Wooton Bassett (J16 M4) going towards Lyneham.

Can't remember name, can give you directions if you don't find anything nearer.

We often go there for meat mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm and they're very good.

Hi Bint, that's the kind of thing I'm looking for and I don't mind travelling - as you say it's likely to be every few months.

Directions etc. would be fab, thanks

Piglet,
You could try Farringtons - its in Farington Gurney on the a37 south of Bristol. We lived that way and still go back occasionally - great meat and other stuff.

As Bint says (if she can see!) the abattoir south of WBasset does great stuff - if you can find the shop (tucked right around the back) and you don't object to seeing the raw materials (so to speak) walking in the front under their own steam. At least you know its fresh.
Drurys I think

Cheers, presumably it's F Drury on that link?

I'm quite happy to see the raw materials wandering around, it sounds great. I'll give them a call, do you know if their shop is open on Saturday?

F Drury - that's the fellas! Yep, open Saturday mornings, prob early, we tend to get there about 11ish.

Edit to say - oi! @DKL - I'll have you know my 10 yr old specs aren't that bad! (are my new ones ready yet smile can't wait!)

Patience is a virtue...
Weekend hopefully or early next week. Will be in touch.

From Bassett Drurys is on the left closer to Lyneham than Bassett. Usually some sign advertising half a pig/lamb/rabbit - delete as appropriate.

I've used www.eastleachdowns.co.uk before. It's owned by the brother of a friend of mine.
