Antipasto

Help required ladies and gentlemen. I have a party to attend tonight at a neighbours; eveyone is tasked with bring different things. As the title of the thread indicates I have to bring an antipasto along for 10 people.

What should it consist of?

Antipasto just means "before the pasta" and usually consists of a few different combinations of foods, served cold.

Chopped tomatoes, with chunks of mozzarella and basil, drizzled in olive oil is a simple and delicious starter.

quite good to have some ciabatta with a mix of olive oil and balsamic vinegar as well.

Just take two 20 piece Chicken McNugget boxes (with dips) and two KFC variety meals. Probably be a blessed relief for all the blokes at the party who have been told by SWMBO not to eat all day because there will be 'nibbles' at the party. . . . .

In this case pasto = meal, not pasta ( = paste). So "before the meal". A singular plate. Antipasti = multiple plates of antipasto.

not italian enough to know it actually translates as before course i.e. before the 1st course

antipasto is generally different types of salami (milano, coppa, parma ham, bresaola...) with veg in vinegar or oil, cheeses and bread

very simple but very tasty
