I have had a quick search and other than the odd post on the BBQ thread I can't see much chat about these so here we go with a dedicated thread.

After selling my Kamado Joe I have used the money to buy a Blackstone griddle 32" from Costco at what appears to be a bargain price. Now to the assembly and seasoning before the first cook.

Anybody else have Blackstone or similar flat top?

Yes, that's the one. £299+ VAT at Costco. Currenly assembled, heating up ready for the first of 4/5 coats of avocado oil to season.

I think I'll keep on using my £12 carbon steel Chinese Wok.

I've got a carbon steel griddle for my charcoal bbq and it cooks really well. Haven't the space for another piece of kit unfortunately so settled for this, and I'm chuffed with it. £85 quid if you have a PK300, which I know not many people will have.

I dont have a Blackstone but over the weekend I did buy a cast iron griddle to sit on my outside kitchen grill burners, so in essence a similar thing.

I'm most looking forward to doing a breakfast on it, hopefully this weekend. Full English one day and then a pancakes, hash brown, streaky bacon American style one the next.

How are you finding PK300? I was about to buy one, but my wife walked in and stopped me, she said I’d got enough barbecues. She may have a point. (I’ve got carbon steel flat tops for them all to keep the thread vaguely on topic!)

I use a stainless plancha on my gas BBQ. It is excellent.

Used it for fish, breakfast pancakes, bacon etc.

Use it like you would a stainless pan and it's near non-stick and easy to clean.

Like this.............

OP you're gonna have a lot of fun with that. So versatile and controllable with it's different zones and dead easy to clean away. Ours is the smaller 28" model with air fryer and warming draw (bought as a bit of a laugh for Wifey as I've said to Her "an air fryer will never enter our kitchen while I'm alive" hehe She has tried it twice and managed to burn chips and cremate jacket potatoes rofl

I'd never go back to a weber or similar but our charcoal Tandoor is a definite keeper.

Personally I really like it, it has top and bottom vents either side, so indirect cooking is a doddle and very effective. It doesn't need mountains of charcoal and it's easy to control the heat. One thing to note is that the original grill grate is a bit flimsy and lasted about 3 years, I've recently bought a replacement PK grate (£90) and it's much thicker and higher quality steel. It's essentially become my daily driver. It will cook enough for 4 people comfortably, but to be honest if we're having a gathering I've usually got 2-3 bbq's on the go to cook different dishes, so size isn't an issue.

Unless you've barbecued bacon over proper coals, you're missing out.

I have one of these and it is great for smash burgers, breakfast, fish, omelets, teppanyaki style stir fry.

There are plenty of youtube videos about how best to season.

Complements a regular BBQ and outdoor gas wok burner perfectly.

Will soon be adding a Roccbox pizza oven.

5 thin coats of avocado oil applied to season the grill, then a decent pile of onions cooked - spreading them round into all corners etc. to finish the process. Hoping for the first cook tonight if the weather holds.

Not got one but used a piota in the Italian Alps - cooking on a stone roof tile over an open fire. Which worked surprisingly well as a indirect style of cooking as it isn't half as fierce as it looks.

Having used plancha grills when i've been on holiday abroad i've actually been contemplating getting one, especially as i love a smash burger.

Will be following this closely!
