No new 3 stars and only two new 2 stars.

Asked AI to summarise...

The 2026 Michelin Guide for Great Britain & Ireland was unveiled on 9 February 2026, at a ceremony in Dublin. The awards were characterised by a night of "consolidation rather than upheaval," with a focus on consistent quality across 1,210 recommended restaurants.

Star Summary
Three Stars: No new restaurants joined this elite tier. All 10 existing Three-Star establishments retained their status, including Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, which celebrated its 25th consecutive year at this level.

Two Stars:
2 new restaurants were promoted, bringing the total to 28:

Bonheur by Matt Abé (London): Achieved Two Stars just three months after opening in the former Le Gavroche space.
Row on 5 (London): Promoted from One Star to Two less than a year after its debut.

One Star:
20 new restaurants were awarded their first star, bringing the total to 192. Notable winners include:

Maré by Rafael Cagali: The first starred restaurant in Brighton and Hove in nearly 50 years.
Ambassadors Clubhouse (London): A high-profile Punjabi-inspired win for the JKS group.
Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High: Located on the 60th floor of 22 Bishopsgate.
Vraic: Put the island of Guernsey on the Michelin map.

Green Stars:
7 new restaurants were recognized for exceptional sustainability, including 1887 at The Torridon and Timberyard in Edinburgh, bringing the total to 37.

Bib Gourmands:
37 new establishments were added for "good food at a great price," including Oren in London and Shwen Shwen in Sevenoaks.

Special Awards
Young Chef: Tom Earnshaw, Bohemia (Jersey).
Opening of the Year: Maria Bradford, Shwen Shwen (Sevenoaks).
Sommelier Award: Roxanne Dupuy, Row on 5 (London).
Service Award: Barbara Nealon, Saint Francis Provisions (Kinsale).

I went just before Christmas and can see why it got a second star - very accomplished cooking and swish, but human, service. You actually move around the restaurant for different course which sounds a bit contrived but makes some sense in practice.

Very much a special occasion restaurant though - I was returning a treat and copped for 4 people. Left wincing!

Hjem have taken up a “ residency” at the South Causey Inn, I understand the plan is to move Hjem to a new location later this year.

Without double checking im not 100% sure but pretty certain no-one actually had stars removed other than through closure be it permanent or temporary.

Either way, if you lose (your only) star you may as well go home, very difficult to come back from that.
