Affordable coffee grinder
Discussion
The sickness AKA the espresso rabbit hole as got hold of me, its got me good.
I have for many years consumed exactly 2 cups of coffee per day.
Most produced by my Gaggia Titanium B2C machine until its death at the grand old age of 20. But more recently just a bog standard Nespresso machine which I now keep gaffa taped up in my basement where I throw a bucket of cold water on it each morning... sorry drifted off there...
Recently I picked up a very cheap espresso machine. Now every day at lunch time I spend 20 minutes faffing about, measuring, fluffing, tamping, frothing etc... thanks James Hoffmann.
Anyway, I have been using store bought coffee for the last 2 weeks to see if I would actually get into it and yes I am now hooked.
So my first proper purchase I think will be a decent grinder but don't want to spend £500..
Max budget maybe £150.
Anyone got any suggestions, the yourtubes reviews are all very much aimed at people who can differentiate a 3.600 vs a 3.601 grind (or whatever) and I am not quite at that stage.
I want something thats going to be fine enough for espresso, easy to clean and not too loud so wont disturb anyone at 6am.
I am thinking sage?

I've had a Knock grinder for coming up to 10 years.

It was £120 way back when. Used every day for espresso.

Cheers reviews seem decent, just need to measure to see if it will fit in my cabinet
Honestly, if you’ve got the espresso bug just buy your forever grinder now and save mucking about with the intermediate steps.

1ZPresso J-Max is what I opted for, but had I known about it I would have gone for a Orphan Lido OG @ $250. It is a hand grinder, so no noise and a 30 second mild workout. It will last forever and is the b

I would search Lance Hendrick grinder comparison review videos on Youtubby..., or Hoffmann. Additionally, Lance recently reviewed a $100 espresso machine that was amazingly effective at extractions. Well worth a watch and always informative. He can be a little irritating though, as can Hoffmann. But then so can I

Espresso grind is very, very difficult with cheap equipment as grind size will be compromised. The more consistent the grind size the more consistent the extraction. @6am I would hand grind.Another vote for a hand grinder, almost silent for the 6am brew and your budget will get a decent one.
I can recommend Timemore if you want an affordable quality hand grinder, I have the below model but they do have some that are better:

I started with a hand grinder but soon ended up with a Niche Zero.
Don't waste your money on the hand grinder you will soon get fed up of it.
I've been using mine for over 8 years. It's part of my morning routine and I love itDon't waste your money on the hand grinder you will soon get fed up of it.
