UPF is getting a lot of media exposure recently, and it has made me reassess my shopping habits. Like many, I just grab the usual packets when I shop due to laziness which doesn't help! I made minor changes over 2 years ago when I stopped buying red meat such as beef / ribeye, steak or lamb (although I am partial to the occasional quality pork cutlet or pork belly for stir fry). I admit, I still eat red meat when I am dining at my brother's, but only in small amount. My main protein intake consist mostly of seafood (salmon, seabass, cod, tuna, squid / calarami) and free range chicken (my least favourite) and eggs. My carbs include the usual wrap/ pitta bread, wholemeal bread, garlic bread, potato/chips, cous cous, noodles, and bagels. Although I buy wholemeal bread, it's still classed as UPF as it a long life product stuffed with preservatives. I am considering buying a bread machine to make fresh bread. However, I don't planning on make a wholesale change to my entire diet, but I would like a healthier diet. What healthy food alternative would you recommend based on my above diet? (Happy to try new stuffs!)

Proper sourdough contains less sh*te. Bertinet (from Waitrose) is just flour, water and salt.

White flour in the UK is all fortified with B vitamins and iron. Even if you were to make your own bread at home you can't avoid that.

Look at something like a Thermomix, it's not cheap but a) you can cook some great food, and b) you know what's going into the food.

Eat plenty of red meat, raw honey, eggs, fruit, zero sweeteners (Inc. Natural), no processed sugar, definitely no upf. No alcohol, plenty of water. Easy.

No issue on the veg and fruit front as they already form part of my daily diet. Just looking for healthy alternative to the the UPF crap I am stuffing down my throat 😁

I am not a huge drinker, and my GP has already told me to drink more water so it's on my action list.

Yep, I have been eating more eggs recently, more so because it's quick to cook!

I previously add brown sugar for my tea & coffee (1 cup of each per day) but have been using raw honey since Xmas.

An infrequent purchase is diet lemonade (loaded with sweeteners!) mixed with a dash of raspberry or cranberry juice, so I guess I can look for a diet lemonade replacement.
