I take it these are two different pub chains?

I have tried to look at the menu for them both, but without success. I am particularly interested in pubs in, or near, Central London that do food.

Can anyone advise me?

Yes they are two different groups.
When you say "I am particularly interested in pubs in, or near, Central London that do food.

Can anyone advise me?"
Are you referring to the pubs in the two groups?

If so my advice would be to set your sights higher. The food offering from both chains is ste.

What are you trying to achieve?

There’s going to be hundreds of food pubs within minutes walk of anywhere in Central London…

I am quite a fan of Wetherspoons pubs - no, they are not grand, but they are remarkably good value for money. I wondered how Stonegate/Stonehouse pubs compared.

Incidentally, how come there are two large pub chains similarly named - well, similar in certain respects?

If your benchmark is Wetherspoons you won't be disappointed.

No Stonehouse pubs in Central London. Stonegate is the largest pub company in the country so plenty to choose from in London. Website here has a list of them and all seem to have websites with menus. https://www.stonegategroup.co.uk/find-your-local/

May I respectfully suggest that you give The Crosse Keys in Gracechurch Street a try?

Well, there are ‘spoons in London, and indeed, for a reasonably priced pint, they can be okay: we had a recent pint at Penderel’s Oak in Holborn for old times sake: MrsMikeIOW used to work there when it wasn’t a pub!

Added bonus with a ‘spoons being you don’t even have to interact with bar staff if you don’t want: order at table!!
