You're describing Jelly Tots Stripes! These were a nostalgic 90s jelly sweet in the UK. They came in a small, rectangular credit card-shaped block with different colored stripes for each flavor, sugar-coated like Rowntree's Pastilles. However, they were softer and had a texture closer to York Fruits, as you mentioned. These are fondly remembered but sadly no longer widely available. Does that match the memory you're thinking of?

Certainly a weird one. I can't see how a jelly sweet like York Fruits but credit card sized would hold its shape but my memory is a bit vague I was more in to chocolates and chews like fruit salads than jelly sweets. Any idea who would have made them ?
No idea would have been 6-9 ish. Often bought for me by a kindly old lady who we gave eggs to. But Martins used to sell them for sure. They came to mind as I was scoffing a box of newbery fruits left over from Christmas. I then had saw the 7.50 price tag that had been left on...eek. for about 10 small jellies...garden centre purchase I think...I recall popping in to Melton produce up Woodbridge way and seeing them for a 2 quid less as I chatted to the owner. But I digress.
Decent jelly sweet ala York or Newbery are a rip off.

Recollections may vary.
I don't think haribo existed in UK back then tbf
Agreed. They might have bought a British brand (Pontefract) in the 70s but we didn't actually see Haribo jelly sweets on UK shelves until the late 80s. There was no such thing as Haribo when I was growing up buying penny sweets it was fruit salads and blackjacks and sherbert flying saucers and cola bottles and jazzies. No such thing as Tangfastics and StarMix back then.I don't think haribo existed in UK back then tbf
