We're about to hit the time when loads of veg is available more or less for free from the supermarkets, 15p for bags of carrots, parsnips, sprouts, potatoes and cabbage.

Soup's an obvious choice but what other dishes can be prepared and chucked in the chest freezer?

With cheap veg... casseroles. Plenty of easy recipes on line; I chuck everything into a slow cooker.

With root veg like carrots and parsnips, you can par boil them, then freeze. Defrost and use like you would fresh ones. Fine for roasting, casserole and soup etc.

Never tried it with sprouts but they are fairly solid so I think they'd be ok too. It doesn't work so well with soft/nigh water content veg, they go a bit soggy.
