We're started looking at bean to cup coffee machines, rather than the capsule machine we have at the moment.

I thought it would be straightforward enough, but most of the bean to cup machines seem to make espressos or lattes.

We just want something that we can press a button on and makes us a cup of Americano in one step.

Anyone any recommendations / advice / suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

We have had a Delonghi bean to cup machine for about 10 years now.

Every morning I get a very satisfying black Americano coffee from it. It had a slight malfunction a little while ago, turned it off for a few days and it came back to life! Cost about 400 quid at the time.

Jura B2C machines are top notch, and priced accordingly. I have a Jura E6 (for a mix of Americano and expresso), there should be some Black Friday deals coming up

Same as Ace-T
Delonghi 4200 esam thing that has been an absolute trooper for 14 yrs or so and getting used 5/6 times a day ever since.

(FWIW Ace-T, mine started to not cake the grounds so much, and alike. I googled, and bought a seal pack from ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225966881824?mkcid=16&a...

followed the : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A4hlIKjj9U and it is bang on and acting like new again.)

I have a Delonghi as well for about 5 years now and still working. You need to give it a clean out regularly and to lube the O rings every now and then. I don't have one with a milk carafe as I think it would be a pain to maintain especially if the daily usage is low.

I have a Gaggia Brera which makes two separate sizes off coffee which you can programme yourself. I have one set to espresso and one set to a full Americano sized mug, so you get an espresso style smoothness of coffee and the lovely crema on top but it's milder than an esprresso on account of using a full mug's worth of water to the same measure of beans as it'd use for a much smaller espresso.

After many weeks of research/videos I bit the bullet and opted for a Jura Z10 plus their milk 'fridge'. Not looked back at all it's superb.

To complete your set, I can also recommend a Jura cup warmer for those cold winter mornings

Another vote for Delonghi. Wife got me one for Christmas before last and it's a fantastic bit of kit. Used several times daily.

hehe would look nice but since I bought the Blade eight litre lager keg dispenser worktop space is a bit limited. I'll stick with using Bodum twin walled glasses and a blast of hot water from the Jura thumbup

Just for absolute certainty, that one does Americano sized cups, yes?

My Delonghi lets you program cup sizes for all drinks - espresso, latte, cappucino, and Americano. Think they all do. Very useful as that way it's customised exactly to each cup - Americano for mug in work van, Espresso Le Creuset cups that we bought, etc.

Think all the Delonghi Dinamica ones do.

I'd be very careful which model you choose! As far as I can tell most Delonghis' can't make 'true' Americano coffee unless you add boiling water to an espresso yourself. Most offer Lungo coffee which imho ruins an espresso - basically you need a machine with a separate water spout as opposed to just pushing extra water through the puck.

Buy any machine that makes a decent espresso, and then spoil the espresso by diluting it with hot water is the usual response.

I guess if the machine dispenses hot water it will save a fill and a button press on a kettle.

Yes, just been digging and had drawn the same conclusion. They dont make an Americano per se.

All starts to get very pricey very quickly....

We both like to sip over a couple of Americanos in the morning. That works better for us than an espresso.

Yes, would be happy to add hot water via the machine if one can do that, but not really wanting to boil a kettle.

Prices seem to go exponential though for that sort of functionality....
