I have quite a few but if I'm pushed I'd say an Old Fashioned.

It's my favourite tipple but I'm always looking for variations on the theme1 so does anybody have a go-to cocktail at home or when at a bar and what's your preferred recipe for it?

My recipe for an OF is

Larceny Bourbon 2oz
Simple syrup 2 spoons
Angostura bitters 2 dashes
Orange bitters 3 dashes
Orange peel garnish

Rocks glass with 1 large ice cube.

Oh yes.

I'm a big fan of the show Mad Men. I remember when it first aired, putting on a suit and going to a nice bar for Old Fashioned's.

I can't remember much past the first one, but my bank statement told me I'd spent £90.

Thanks for the recipe yum

Manhattan, rob roy, Negroni, vieux carre. None of that sugar syrup, egg white or sour mix for me thanks.

Not sure what to call this as it’s a Negroni with only one of the correct ingredients.

Brew coffee in a Moka pot using vermouth instead of water.

Equal parts of this, dark rum and Campari. A dash of chocolate bitters. Shake over ice and strain into an old fashioned glass with more ice.

Biggin Hill Shandy, it was thought up by pilots, a measure of Cointreau and a good dose of crushed ice topped up with Champagne.

I'm only normally a cocktail guy when on holiday so nothing beats a good Mojito for me.

But a mexicola is also good.

So that's a gin then?!

I'm not fussy when it comes to cocktails - I will both drink and have a go at making pretty much anything.

That said, the Bullfrog Whisperer as served up in Highlander, Singapore, is pretty damn more-ish (gin, vodka, rum, tequila, blue curacao, lime juice, splash of red bull)

My martinis contained an ever decreasing amount of vermouth, until it reached a point where I no longer even bother.

Oh yes. Just to qualify: crushed ice and demerara sugar. Not that easy to find cachaca though.

Never been a cocktail type of person but had the urge to try a Whisky Sour in Corfu earlier in the year. Lovely!

Came home and ordered a cocktail mixing kit from Amazon. smile

Haven't used it yet. frown

I don't like the sweet cocktails in general, and rarely drink them anyway, but I find a Long Island Iced Tea (or several) slip down pretty well.

Mark Zero

Highball glass filled with cubed ice
2 slices lemon
1/3 Makers Mark Bourbon
2/3 Coke Zero

Dead simple, no fannying about muddling, making syrup, grating rinds...

Thank you! I didn't know grogue was sold as cachaca here. My favorite cocktail smile
