I think it’s Paul A Young who had the shops you’re thinking of. Not sure is he’s still in business though.

Fortnums sell some very good handmade chocolates. Well - very good by my standards anyway.

My go to for posh chocs is Rococo, either Kings Road or Moxon St.

Their products are works of art but I must say that the prices these days are pretty strong. V special occasions only.

Philip Neal in Chiswick is really good, worked in Paris for a long while before setting up in London. His chocolate stilettos sell for big money.

Used to/does have a shop in Richmond and is/was utterly amazing. We used to wander down from Kew and just happen to end up stopping off in the shop.

Good to know he's still going unless he bought out the previous place there. Hope it is the same one as I use to visit when I worked in Chiswick back in 1999-2001. It is the same location and look (just looked up and while under a different name, yes it is still the same).
When ever I wandered in there I would leave with at least an orange slice half dunked in dark chocolate. Was also once offered a tour, though alas that was on one of the few occasions when I needed to rush back to the office.

I used to really rate the choc shop by Paul A Young - I think on Wardour Street.
You'd see him making chocolate through the window. A proper talent IMHO

Looks like he's gone back to his roots. In N Yorkshire.
Nice story about his return here - https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/24106105.top-choc...
