Steak restaurants in the City (ish)
Discussion
I’m looking for a restaurant suitable for two carnivores that isn’t the usual Hawksmoor, Gaucho, Goodmans, Omnino etc.
Doesn’t have to be solely steak and doesn’t have to be in the heart of the City, but don’t want to travel too far.
Looking for something a bit different, these are a couple of suggestions I’ve had:

https://www.macellaiorc.com/soho
https://temperrestaurant.com/temper-city/
I do like High Timber, which is probably the fall back option, but keen to try somewhere (and something) a bit different.

It would be good to get a recommendation from someone who has actually been to any of these places.

None.
Buy the best you can afford and cook it at home.
UK hospitality is in the midst of a staffing crisis. Food and service are patchy literally everywhere.
ETA: High Timber. £31 for a 200g ribeye? £6 for chips? f
k off. You're better off buying a disposable BBQ and grilling a LIDL ribeye riverside.

I'm the same, easy to cook steak perfectly if you gain a few simple tips....Buy the best you can afford and cook it at home.

I've been to macellaio albeit quite a while ago at the brompton road one - it was pretty decent but not that special. Doesn’t have to be solely steak and doesn’t have to be in the heart of the City, but don’t want to travel too far.

Tbh I'd go for goodman's city if I were you for something in the city - are similar steakhouse chains not an option because my next recommendation albeit of that type would be Blacklock (definitely over Hawksmoor, probably evens with goodmans). If soho is an option despite the distance from the city, perhaps consider Lobos Soho - the iberian pork (secreto) is definitely worth a try alongside the beef options.

I’ll look into Lobos, but I was keen not to go to one of the usual steakhouse chains, and wanted something a little different. However, I’ve not had a bad steak at Goodmans. I’ll look at Blacklock.

Brazilian BBQ restaurants are good. They just keep coming with different cuts of meat until you get the actual meat sweats and roll out of the restaurant.

Le Relais De Venise? Simple stuff but done well.
Is Liverpool Street/Shoreditch too far? St John Bread and Wine and Brat are short walks from LS station. Manteca is about 10 minutes walk and very good.
My favourite right now is Brutto in Farringdon. A fantastic atmosphere, Florentine food done well and you can get a massive Bistecca Fiorentina if you want.

No. Go and buy an Angus calf at a cattle auction and feed it organic silage for 2 years until it’s conditioned enough to take to the abattoir. Buy the best you can afford and cook it at home.

And I’ll expect Alvin sultana? To be along shortly.
A bit left field (but not too far from the City), but I'd recommend Buen Ayre in Broadway Market - https://buenayre.net/
And, if you like Belgian beers, The Dove is only a few doors away!

Le Relais De Venise gets my vote too. Just don't disclose the secret...Is Liverpool Street/Shoreditch too far? St John Bread and Wine and Brat are short walks from LS station. Manteca is about 10 minutes walk and very good.
