I love a good casing of assholes and lips sometimes, but the Herta, dino ones, or those in a tin/jar from the supermarkets just seem to be pink mush all the way through.

Where can you find a decent dog with a nice crisp skin, good flavour and some texture?

Following as I love a good hotdog. I practically lived in Sonic on a US Road Trip.

Most hotdogs seem to be chicken, however they are often low in calories, as long as you don't fry the onions in lard.

Have a look at the kosher / halal section at bigger Tesco stores for Gilbert's beef hotdogs.

Delicious.

You have to agree and be party to inhumane slaughter in that case.

Done properly it's no more or less cruel than any other form of slaughter.

Whether they count as hotdogs or not I really don’t know but another vote for them. Grilled with chips and a curry sauce is a nobrain dinner when I can’t be bothered to cook. Addictive.

OP, in addition to previously mentioned, this week is Alpenfest week at LIDL, so there'll be some unique sausages until thursday when it's bavarian week. Just had a look and there's about 9 types of sausage just for the week.

Having worked in an abattoir, I can assure you that both Halal and Kosher are. I couldn't knowingly eat either.

But this isn't the place.

Given that either is to a significant degree in the eye of the rabbi or the imam doing the approving, it's rather a moveable feast.

Pretty much any of the hotdogs from the polish section in the chillers of a big supermarket are good.

Are they actually made of cheese,or are they just cheese flavoured. Do they taste cheesy? Do they taste sausagey? Help I'm confused!

They have a line of cheese running lengthways through the dog. It turns almost liquid when warmed up and they are very moreish.
Tastes like normal hotdog with cheese added.
Only downside is if you warm then for too long some cheese will try and escape.

I'm a big fan of these, though they're only slight 'warm' rather than spicy - but a grand sosig all the same.

The maple bacon ones are good too, albeit a bit too sweet for me.
