Hi All. I travelled to Paris recently with work and bought Corbieres Red wine from Lidl (i think). I paid 2.25 euros a bottle.

I drank the wine this week and really like it. Ok its not going to win awards, but it was nice to my taste. Does anyone know if i can buy it in the uk?

Corbières is a punchy red, typically comprised of Southern French grape varieties: Carignan, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache, etc.

You can buy it in the UK. Not for 2.25 Euros though.

Loads of it available in UK. Often decent value although not always good quality. Pretty reliable.

Chancellor's grab on alcohol in the UK is currently horrendous.
Second only to vehicle fuel taxation!

Thanks all. I also noted that there is a limit of how much alcohol you can bring back from the continent. 18 litres or 24 bottles seems to be the consensus. Thanks Brexit!! Is that per person or per car?

It's per person (aged 18+).

Any decent wine with typical Rhône grapes (syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, carignan) from south western France will probably hit a similar spot.

Morrisons do a really nice Languedoc

There is a savouriness to the carignan-dominated Corbieres that I don't often find in other southern French reds.

Lidl have it in stock at the moment, purple-ish label, I didn't buy any but I think it was about a fiver last night when I was in there.
