Can anyone recommend somewhere near Tower Hill for a business dinner? Chinese visitors.

Not too high end but not 'spoons either.

Thanks

There is an Ivy Asia in St Pauls, about 10 mins away in a cab
Alternatively there are 2x Asian restaurants in the Shard just across the river

Thanks - Shard suits me as I'll be getting the train back. I've been to the Madison which is upstairs form the Ivy Asia, great location.

14 Hills?

Or does it have to be Asian?

IMHO one of the best places to eat in London full stop, its not cheap, but wont be mega more than the IVY.

Any theme goes, I think.

I really wouldn't go to Hutong in the Shard, went last year October. Overpriced and the food was just generally really disappointing.

You've got a few chain places around St Katherine's dock (Cote and Ping Pong) both of which are consistently good.

Cote by St Pauls is quite nice (for a chain) in that you can walk over the Millenium Bridge, along by the river and then back over Tower Bridge after your meal.

There's an Ivy and a Gaucho on the south side of Tower Bridge, and a Bodeans on the north side. Emilia's Crafted Pasta in St Katherine's Dock also gets good reviews.

It's one of the many best places, but they said not high-end biggrin.

Probably more like it.

Ivy Asia and Madison as above are pretty straight-forward places that fit the bill. Getting a booking at Ivy Asia can be tricky but not sure why tbh.

If I'm coming from China I'd probably rather go to a Western restaurant than an Asian one. They'd probably lol at the prices at places like Hakkasan as they can get better food for a fraction of the price back home. But if their palate isn't inclined towards Western cuisine then Yauatcha in Liverpool St is a decent mid range option as is Ivy Asia as mentioned. For the love of god avoid Ping Pong.

Great restaurant, but it's in a different bracket entirely.

That reminds me, the worst Chinese food I ever had in my life was in Shanghai.
They had great western food though.

Is it still good? I used to live on Tower Bridge Road and was in a few times each month - it was consistent then.

Bodeans was absolutely pony when I went in December sadly. Nowhere near as good as in the past.

14 Hills really lovely. Getting a bit further away from Tower Hill but you also have The Mercer, Hawksmoor and Goodmans albeit I haven't been to either of the latter 2 since before lock down.

Thanks again for suggestions.

We went to 14 Hills on Monday at 6:45.

Beautiful venue but unfortunately the food was subpar. I had the pork belly which was nice but cold, the plate wasn't even lukewarm and the chargrilled sprout was stone cold, tasted OK though.

The table fancied soup to start but there wasn't any and nobody mentioned it at seating or any time before trying to order.

Most embarrassingly the boss man found his steak inedible. Overcooked and cold I think.

The food took just over an hour to arrive from order for a table of nine, no starters just mains.

If I was with a couple of friends I would have complained and I don't complain often, virtually never.

It was well frequented but not super busy and I wonder if they run a short staff in the kitchen because it was a Monday.

Sorry to hear this. Really poor.
