Now hear me out. Obviously there are budget and supermarket own and also mega high ends.
but of the reasonable middle ground
Iv'e found Hellmans ketchup to be better than Heinz and Heinz mayonaise to be better than Hellmans. which is kinda the wrong way round in terms of the bigger one for each company.

Anyone else the same?

You need to buy the jar version.

Neither, the Sauce Shop is preferable to both. No Heinz products at all given their recent profiteering.

This for me too.

But I prefer Crosse & Blackwell Mayo and have to import that since it isn't sold here.

Yes.

This opinion would have been utter ludicrous a decade or so ago - but it's true now.

Hellman's ketchup is much nicer than Heinz ketchup IMO

Heinz mayo* is much nicer than Hellman's mayo IMO

  • the updated 'Seriously Good' branded one and not their standard cheaper offering that is still available

Will give that a go - love a bit of fusion cookery hehe

Edit: not sure if Wifey would appreciate me trying it out as an alternative to her Marie Rose sauce on the Xmas dinner for the prawn cocktail rofl

Calvé mayonnaise

Heinz is a fair runner up

Hellmann's doesn't make the top 5

For me Heinz Seriously Good Mayonnaise. Just wish it came in a jar rather than a squeezy bottle. I have mayo with my breakfast more than once the bottle run low and have to get in with scissors to get a decent scoop out. Wrong.

Don't like ketchup but Mrs always buys Tesco own brand so assume she's happy with that.

I don't think that I've ever had either of Heinz mayonnaise or Hellmans ketchup to be able to comment.

I used to think Hellman's was the best until I tried Heinz. It is surprisingly good.

I think the Heinz 'seriously good' mayonnaise is foul, really don't like it. It's far too sweet.
In the Hants household, we have tried every brand of mayo, pretty much, and we always come back to the stand out winner: Hellmann's. Jar or squeezy, makes no difference.

As for ketchup, that's easy too: Heinz.

In both cases, you can forget your 'Lite' or <shudder> vegan versions, or anything other than the normal/original version.
