Xmas gift food ideas
Discussion
Hi All.
Christmas and birthdays I generally don't wish for much in the way of things, I've already bought anything I'd need or really want. So I like to request food / drink bits from people.
Will entertain most things, not a fan of anything fish based or normal Christmasy stuff like pickles or pate. I already do orders from places like Deerbox and Dorset Meat co so know about most of their stuff.
So any recommendations for little bits to try that can be ordered online or picked up from within about an hour of Swindon. Or nice places to eat that wont break the bank.
Quite like BBQ stuff / burgers / sausages / meats / pies / pastry / puddings, all the healthy stuff Italian or Indian also good. Interested in unusual but nice things or anything fun or massive or lesser knowns/ hidden gems, for example the Devil's mortar that Crown and Queue used to make. Drink wise I pretty much stick to cider if alcohol.
As a family we only tend to spend about £30-50 on stuff for each other so no expensive caviar or wines etc.
Thanks for any ideas.

When I went to the Great British Beer Festival at Olympia I tried my first Perry and it was really nice. I don't like sweet or dry and this sits right in the middle, I was drinking pints of this at the end. https://www.whinhillnorfolkcider.co.uk/product/per...
Looks like everything is out of stock at the moment

Just over an hour away you have the Westons Cider mill at Much Marcle, absolutely delightful cider with many varieties so defintely one to suit all palates.Personally for me i prefer the 8.2% Vintage but its not exactly suitable for an extended session!
They do 20 litre bag in box of many of their lines too!

souschef.co.uk is a fabulous resource for the more unusual food items.
It got me into the Amareña candied cocktail cherries which are the best of any I've tried.
Check these aren't cheaper elsewhere though.
Had a look - certainly some interesting items, but for more ‘bog standard’ stuff available in any supermarket, ludicrously expensive (as you note) - £3.99 for Cholula hot sauce? It got me into the Amareña candied cocktail cherries which are the best of any I've tried.
Check these aren't cheaper elsewhere though.
