Mrs UTH drinks pretty much only Prosecco, and I'm losing track of the amount I've chucked down the sink the next day because attempts to seal the fizz in overnight have failed.

As usual there are millions of options out there, can anyone suggest me one that actually works well?

Buy the mini bottles. That's what I get for my Mrs's Aperol Spritz addiction. One mini bottle makes 2 servings. wink

I did actually look at the difference in costs between a big bulk order of minis vs standard bottles.

I think perhaps after the festive period where I imagine there won't often be times a normal bottle goes unfinished I could look at that as a better alternative

Basically this - Le Creuset do a slightly fancier version if you want a brand, but this will do the job nicely.

Zero wastage in my experience...

Do you mean this one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Air-Tight-Champagne-Spark...

There are three brands I am a total we for (maybe 4) and Le Creuset is one of them......

I do mean that one, although I honestly prefer the JL one. They do a champagne opener too which works surprisingly well, although it’s not really needed…

+1 Usually bulk buy when they're on offer.

Had it been orange I'd have been sold, but happy to stick with JL

Buy a cheap bottle fizzy plonk with a plastic stopper, of the ribbed variety, (ooh err missus).
Drink or dispose of the cheap plonk, keep the stopper for future use!

Buy a Soda Stream and re-gas the flat Prosecco before serving.

Yes, though I haven't tried it, people use it to make their own wine sparkling.

Absolutely it is. Trust me. I would never try to set you up.

(Got to be worth a try. It'll be a laugh at the very least.)

HFW once did a blind taste test on a Devon high street with decent fizz, cheap fizz and cheap white that had been through a soda stream and the majority preferred the soda streamed white. hehe

This is very interesting.

I will absolutely be using the soda stream tomorrow evening on some cheap white wine and see what she thinks......

Only issue is the soda stream bottles are quite big, not sure I want to risk wasting even a cheap bottle of wine on this haha

Is that not similar to why Le Piat d'Or was created? In a cheap and cheerful tasting lineup of red wines, the most popular was the coloured white which IIRC had been added as a joker.

If you’re leaving the bottle ‘open’ for more than a day or so I’d recommend getting a vacuum stopper. It’s the oxygen that ruins the wine.
