So, I’ve been instructed to buy a stand mixer. I.e. a contraption that sits on top of the kitchen surface and mixes stuff so you can make bread, cakes and so on. Default google search suggests a kitchen aid artisan thing. Are they any good? If so any suggestions on which version. Or. Are there better brands out there which fall foul of. Google searches?

Thanks

Ankarsrum assistent.

Motor doesn't burn out like the kitchen aid and build quality is 10x that of a kitchen aid.

Often looked at one of these myself for home but I'm a bit of a Kenwood fanboy having destroyed a Kitchenaid (twice).

Nisbets have a selection of mixers in their clearance, but not the prices are ex-VAT and worth a google to see if they really are a good deal.

Ave Kitchenaid review here, quite an old one but he seemed generally impressed with it.

I don’t think our kitchenaid gets the use perhaps yours might! Besides, it matches the coffee machine which is far more important obviously!

I have a Kenwood chef xl. It gets a right beating (pardon the pun) and had a 10 year warranty from JL. Kitchenaids tend to be highly marketed junk these days.

I also have a Kenwood (a Chef Premier KMC570), about ten years old.

Suspect its a bit noisier than a KitchenAid but it gives the impression it will last forever. Loads of attachments available for mincing meat, blending etc.

If you don't need to mix bread dough, or mince meat, I think a food processor (eg magimix or Kenwood again) is often better for cakes, meringues etc.

Kitchen aid look nice but another vote for Kenwood here. I have the Chef Titanium and its so much more than a stand mixer. Blender, food processor, pasta maker, herb grinder, mincer, sausage maker....

kitchen aid look the part and very fancy, the flash verson.

However.... start to use them as intended..... the wont last...

If its for show with occassional use..... then well crack on it will look pretty....

However if your wanting substence and ability it has to be the kenwood...

Just asked the wife... and she knows a thing or two about it.. runs her own cake baking company..... and uses kenwood... its about quality and it has it. dependability you get an order in and it has to be made... a mixer that tends to give up the ghost to easily isnt wanted.

I inherited my late Nan’s Kenwood chef which was purchased in the 1970s.
Still going strong and I use it to make pizza dough once a week.
It still produces great cake batter and meringues as well!
Get the Kenwood chef

Noticed the kenwood Kmix. Seems good value at £240. Anyone know if these are any good?

And this is why everything in my kitchen at home "matches". sometimes form does take precedence over function in the quest for harmonious living!

And, to add. All my real kit is hidden in the garage or the boot of my car which looks like a mobile Nisbets showroom.
