The thread for things that taste better than they smell
Surstromming and durian fruit are obvious contenders, but I've never had them so I'm gonna say ...
'Beef' in black bean sauce.
Smelled like cows armpits. Tasted like beef stew but a bit more Chinesey.

It's pretty tasteless tbf, so if you can't stand the smell I'd say it qualifies!

I love fish and seafood in most forms including raw or seared tuna, but I'd be very happy to never eat canned tuna ever again. It tastes of nothing at all but has a pretty horrible texture. No thank you!

You have if you've had any Thai food whatsoever. They put fish sauce in everything!

Any seafood - despite aficionados claiming it "smells of the sea" it actually smells like a fishy sewer. Tastes nice though.

Once spent Christmas up in Scotland in a little cottage with another couple. My mate's dad had given him a whole stinking bishop to take up, and all the way up from Swindon he kept opening the bag and wafting it vomit

Did taste good though.

Durian?

Once past the smell, it is delicious, albeit not to my taste.

Yeah the top one.
Although one time I was having a curry at my friend's house, and they had this iirc 'prawn pickle', it was crazy hot!, any idea what that was?
