The problem with family restaurants

In my youth these were not really a thing.If you took your family out for a meal it was to something like a Wimpy or Happy eater and proper restaurants were the preserve of the older generation.Now i should clarify that i am not talking about all families here just the ones who allow their kids to run around the restaurant shouting screaming and getting under the feet of the staff.

seems like you’re describing a problem of family restaurant patrons, not the restaurants themselves…

It's all to do with open plan gardens. They remove boundaries.

Over the past 20-30 maybe 30-40 years UK restaurants have evolved and have become more family friendly.

Problem is that (largely) the clientele have not.

I worked as a waiter one summer and remember clearly carrying side plates, with a paper doily and a glass of orange juice as a starter.... it didn't seem strange at the time!

Sorry to disappoint but not council far from it in fact.When we reached about 16 if i remember when my parents took us out they tended to favour either Spanish or Indian.

I have eaten out with my family plenty, including plenty of what I assume you mean by family restaurants.

I have literally never seen kids "shouting screaming and getting under the feet of the staff".

I've definitely seen a lot of kids on ipads in restaurants recently, I don't mind if they have earphone on but a lot don't.

I am thinking Harvester/Marstons/Brewers fayre/Hungry horse although the only hungry horse restaurant i have been to is grim even without the screaming kids.

Been a few times for breakfast at work and is always decent enough, so though I would give it a try on a Saturday evening after a day of painting and couldn’t be bothered to cook,

What a mistake, the place was like a crèche, kids all running around and parents not caring, staff service not up to standard, slow and forgetful. So much food on the floor they could have made another meal from it.

Burger was actually quite nice and the resturant is fairly new so looks nice.

Never again though.
