Corned Beef Hash
Discussion
I haven't had this for years and have a sudden craving - any recipe tips out there?
I fancy doing it with a fried egg on top and a side of Sauerkraut (Tiroler Grostl style).
I nabbed a tin of corned beef the other day, I just need a recipe and to decide whether it's breakfast or dinner.

Simple "can't be bothered" recipe is boil your normal "mash" potatoes with a little salt, some onion diced into it. When done, strain, mash with butter, a little cream or milk and the corned beef.......eat :-). Add other condiments to taste if you want to go posh :-) LOL
I had this just last week for the first time in years when we had some corned beef left over from a pie my MiL made in the New Year when she was at my house & I had an evening in by myself. Looked like a "dogs dinner".....but delicious ! Served it with a selection of steamed vegetables.

Wow, you've just given me inspiration for something this week. I like a panackalty, some call it pannackerty or Pan Haggerty depending where you're from but I think it's essentially similar to hash but the potatoes are par boiled then layered on the top and baked in the oven.
Pan Haggerty, yes!! my Mum used to make that when we were kids - lovely stuff.'Stovies' in Scotland is the same/similar.
I think it's this cold weather makes you want good old fashioned comfort food.
Adore corned beef hash.
Corned beef cubed, tin of beans, diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, cubed boiled potatoes (tinned potatoes in a pinch or when camping), salt and pepper to taste
Serve with eggs cooked however takes your fancy and a crusty roll.
Wonderful stuff!
Also fry up any left overs as "patties" and serve in a roll with egg or square sausage or black pudding (or all of the above) with strong coffee for breakfast.
Great now I am hungry

I've always known it as 'cowboy pie'.
Tin of corned beef, mashed together with a tin of baked beans.
Plenty of Worcestershire Sauce and pepper.
Top with mash.
Top with cheese.
Bake until it's all golden and bubbling.
Pretty much same as I do it - with the addition of a chopped onion into the corned beef & beans.Tin of corned beef, mashed together with a tin of baked beans.
