Apologies if there Is a thread running already - I did check the last few pages...

We signed up for a trial of Hello Fresh at Burghley Horse Trials and have got through our first week our next meal pack arrived yesterday. We got four weeks of four meals for two at £24.99 a week, which seems really good value.

Got to say I’m really impressed so far. Everything you need other than salt, pepper, oil and water is supplied. The recipe cards are easy to follow and some really tasty meals made quickly, with ample portions. Ingredients all seem good and the only casualty was the carrot for our last meal which I left out of the fridge with the ambient ingredients, so it was a bit bendy. Swapped it for a fresh one!

Lamb meatballs were our favourite so far, but we’d happily eat any of them again.

What are people’s favourites? What is worth avoiding?

I agree they make fantastic meals, but hang onto the cards and make it from ingredients you buy from the shops. When you renew you will find it very expensive, they will do the discount a few times if you ask them having dropped it when they call you out of the blue.

I bought an Instant Pot, far quicker and just as tasty. Make most meals in it.

Yeah I used hello fresh for a month, enjoyed the meals and the convenience.
I had been an avid user of Gousto before trying HF.
I find the meal choice better with Gousto, such a bigger variety.
Gousto user for 18 months and don’t think we’ve had the same meal twice.

If you want to try Gousto, after your HF cheaper price ends let me know. I have a referral code you can use to get 60% off your first box and then 30% off your first month.

You might prefer it, you might not.

Been with Gousto for a few years now. They went a bit downhill the winter before last, so we gave HF a try. Ordered a box. They cancelled it due to the weather. Their depot is 10 miles from us, and the weather wasn’t that bad. We got a refund on the box, but one meal was a high-end one with extra cost. They didn’t refund that bit until I chased a few times. Crap customer service. Won’t be trying again. Back with Goust, who have upped their game.

I got a referral for hello fresh off a friend so we ordered a box as a trial for when we returned from holiday.

Nothing has arrived by late afternoon so checked the DPD website.

There was an entry for us but no shipping info. Called HF and they said it wasn't going to be delivered due to nationwide delivery issues.

Cancelled and went with gousto. Loving it so far. We are really making some awesome food.

This.

Other half's pescatarian so we did the veggie option. The recipes are seriously good...but can get samey after a while.

We've cancelled our subs now but the recipe cards get plenty of use through the week.

Me and Mrs 48k are big fans of Gousto. We used to get 4 recipes a week. We put it on pause over the summer and will probably unpause now the weather has changed but we've got the ring binders full of recipe cards for the ones we liked and have been dipping in to them to do odd meals.
I was a bit cynical at first and thought you'd get veggies just on the turn and groceries going out of date but was really impressed with the quality. The only downside is the amount of packaging involved although it is all recyclable.

We had the trial for HF which we enjoyed and also have recently had another cheap offer through so we got that too. It was our daughter (15) that wanted to try it after a friend had them. She loves cooking them and anything to get her doing something other than looking at her phone is a bonus.

May have to try the Gousto one too

Well week one of Gousto was a success, with the 50% off offer it only cost £17 for 4 really good meals, thats £4.25 a meal, or under £2 a portion (2 adults and a small child).

A great variety of food, we had one chicken, one fish, one pork and one veggie, cooked things we wouldn't normally, nothing to complex etc

We have not cancelled, and have another box coming this week, thats 15% off, so not as good value but still cheaper than a shop at sainsburys.

Will reevaluate when they are full price, but think we will continue.

I looked at hellofresh, but it wouldn't let me see recipes and prices without setting up an account, which seemed silly, but the general jist i got was more stews and chilli's, and more money, so gousto seems better to me

Another vote here for Gousto. Much like others we were with Gousto, fancied a change and tried Hello Fresh.

HF didn't help themselves when the first box we tried was missing a couple of ingredients and then I think the third week contained produce that was already 'on the turn' when the box arrived.

We've just gone back to Gousto as found we had slipped in to an old habit of nothing in/ out of the freezer, let's order a takeaway.

Had the Creamy 'Nduja & Fennel Seed Pappardelle last night - was lovely and had a great level of heat (spice) about it.

Biggest thing for me, which is true for both Gousto and HF, is the lack of food waste.

Please please post if the firecracker appears - I'd subscribe just to get a repeatable recipe for that.

Me too, but the downside is the increase in packaging you're throwing out, albeit it's recyclable.

We’ve got our last introductory offer priced box arriving today. We skipped last week as my wife was away, and I missed having something new to cook.

Price goes up a tenner to £34.99 next week, which is probably about a fiver too much. The food is really good though, and the total lack of food waste is great. We’ve only had one recipe that we didn’t really enjoy.

Presume if I cancel I’ll get bombarded with better offers? I was given two lots of four invites for friends to try a free box (4 meals for 2 people) which Have been used, as well as a £20 credit referer code (code is HS-DD4U6HG84 if you want to try!), so I hope they’ll make me an offer!

If not, Gousto sounds worth a try...

Hello fresh was anything but fresh for me. One small soft carrot as veg for two? Missing items.

Not even good value at “half price”

Then let’s get on to all that packaging waste...

We did have one carrot that was soft, but I had left it with the 'ambient' ingredients and not in the fridge by mistake, and it was the last recipe we cooked. We had some fresh ones anyway so no great issue. Not seen any shortages, but a couple of friends have had either wrong or missing items which could be a PITA.

I guess the packaging waste (mostly recyclable) is more than a normal shop, but the lack of wasted food is a good thing. Presume all the other providers of meal boxes are similar in this regard though?

Sorry to bump this - had a special week of HelloFresh for £1, which we have loved. Would like to try Gousto - any referral codes or deals?
