Lunch recommendations around Bond/Oxford Street.

Taking the wife and rugrats back to the UK end of June so they can spend the summer there.

Wife has roped in Grandma to babysit whilst we spend a day in London shopping, joy.

Looking for a place within walking distance from the above for a wow lunch, I've left it far too late to go to any of the 3* places I can find so opening it up to suggestions.

Cuisines wise, not Italian, will consider everything else, budget fairly open ended as well.

As wow as possible really. I'll be jetting back to the sandpit the day later and won't see them for 6 weeks.

Two sprogs under two means a day without them is that be enjoyed!!

Anywhere in central is pretty easy to get to from Oxford St, so if you're looking 'wow' I wouldn't be restricting yourself to that specific area.

Try these for size:

Hide
Kerridge Bar and Grill
45 Jermyn St
Indian Accent
Temper Soho (not as upmarket as the others, but it's still great)

I can vouch for all the above being excellent, bar Hide which I haven't been to yet (but have on good authority that it's excellent).

It depends how "wow" you are after in that neck of the woods OP.

If you're striking out with the Michelin starred places, Gordon Ramsay has a place on Grosvenor Square (Maze), or Richard Caring has 34 on the other side of Grosvenor Square. A previous poster mentioned Benares, which would be a good shout.

I've not had chance to go yet, but Gymkhana seems to have a good reputation. I had a great lunch at Cut on Park Lane, but can't remember what they had fish-wise. For something a bit off-piste, maybe try Texture?

Gymkhana is fantastic.

Maze is "OK". I wouldn't recommend it to anyone though.

SWMBO has run her eye over the menus and gone for Kerridge's and has now decided it's an early dinner at 6pm!

Will report back on how it was.

I'm not convinced that Kerridge has really made that space work, it hasn't had much buzz when I've been. Have a look at Ormer at Flemings, that's a bit more intimate.
