I don't understand the draw of the Global knife, I have a selection but they're utterly souless and their RRPs are ridiculous.
I have about 9 - they're fantastic. My favourite is the bread knife. Used daily for getting on 10 years and as good now as they day we were given it (wedding present).Soulless? They're knives!!

The wife has mentioned she wants some new knives - so just picked these for her for Christmas - cheers! If they are no good...I'll hunt you down and struggle to stab you...

If you like Globals then for the same money this would be better value

I really couldn't justify a Global speed peeler when its functionally the same as a 99p one!

Tough decision now, the 3pc set originally mentioned totals £196.00, deal price £99.00. The set you posted totals £175.00, currently £150.00, chefs knife is fluted which I'm guessing is better?http://www.amazon.co.uk/Global-Piece-Anniversary-G...

As you say, is it worth £25 for a peeler? Is it worth £100 on knives that ultimately do the same as our Anolon set?
Another £50, already bought a Minosharp Plus for nearly £45, I'll be in for nearly £200 FFS!
The other problem with Global knives, is the rather large number of countefeits on the market. Genuine Global knives, manufactured by Yoshikin, are balanced by adding sand to the handle cavity. Hold your knife to your ear and shake it, (carefully now) can you hear the sand ? If not, probably fake.
VFM wise this isn't actually that bad.
A decent serrated knife, two chefs knives one of which could be used as a carver, a trendy veg knife, a flexible and a couple of small utilities. Add in a nice magnetic rack and?
Not saying you can't get as good or better for a lesser price but they do look pretty.
