Decent eating in Manchester?
Discussion
I am after a high end venue for a client lunch in a week or two.
I don't know Manchester that well, I see there is a Manchester House which might be OK?
It needs to be very central and be a place that people know about, as shallow as it is the venue needs to impress in all senses, so any recommendations would be great! No budget restrictions

Just to add, the French was 1st place in England to get a Michelin star (not had one for few years in mcr) has had refurb in the last year and Simon Rogan (2 stars at his own place) now runs it.
Mcr house off deansgate, on the edge of town. Michael Caines close to Piccadilly train station (not great)
Midland hotel/French next to Central library (which is very central)

All the above (Michael Caines got terrible reviews from my in-laws) and maybe consider Australasia and the James Martin offerings?

EDIT: Australasia doesn't seem to be doing lunch at the moment.
Did you see Restaurant Wars when it was on the BBC? It followed both The French and Manchester House in their pursuit of a Michelin star, very interesting insight to both.

Manchester house looks ok? I can assure you it's better than ok!
Unless you are trying to take the piss?
I am comparing this to the best restaraunts in London, and Soho house etc wouldn't figure on that list they're nice, but really just a place where you might go for meetings or drinks, so I would imagine its OK, but the French looks like a better bet to me, the tasting menue would make things simple as its a large party.Unless you are trying to take the piss?
i have been looking for fancy restaurants manchester for an upcoming bday and found loads of of options on a manchester article. i think im swaying towards the ivy at the moment, it looks well nice. the article is https://www.enjoymanchester.com/fancy-restaurants-...

The quality is definitely improving but my favourite is Tast.
I'm not sure I'd rate the Manchester version of the Ivy for the food.
The atmosphere not for me either but that's a matter of opinion.
yea i didn't include it. It is swanky and it's nice place to have a cocktail where you get looked after rather than stand like a tit 5 deep at the bar like in some places, but i'm not sure about the eating fare. I'm not sure I'd rate the Manchester version of the Ivy for the food.

The food both in the bar and the restaurant really is top notch. I'd say a league above el gato negro. At least.According to confidentials this is the 'hot 50' in greater manchester

They used to serve the full menu downstairs but that seems to have changed
In terms of cocktails I went to a place called Schofields which is on Quay Street (the old grapes pub)
By far the best cocktails I've had in Manchester ever. Old school and definitely not one if you want pitchers of Sex on the beach and tequila slammers.
Edit: and take anything Gordo is involved in with a pinch of salt. Some of his stuff is ok but he has a certain reputation.
