Nice Italian in Manchester

Possibly a bit late in the day but looking for a nice romantic Italian in Manchester or the North West tomorrow. Any recommendations?

Never tried San Carlo, always thought it looked a bit too 'busy' if that makes sense?
Dined at Piccolinos in Hale a few weeks back, really nice and went down a treat so could always go there again but fancy trying somewhere different if possible.

Stock in the old stock exchange building is very good. Bit pricey though.

it's very busy partly because it's fashionable and partly because the food is very nice

also it's noisy inside!

It might not be as busy atm though as the football season has ended and lots of premiership footballers are on holidays abroad!

I've been to a few of the chain ones which were all as expected, the only other I've tried is "Rosso" which was nice enough from a food point of view but the waiting staff were a bit feisty. It's not the highest rated Manchester Italian on Tripadvisor but that doesn't always everything.

I think it might have a bit of a footballist connection (I don't follow the game) as there were photos of people in kits on some of the walls but that didn't seem to be a negative influence.

San Carlo is nice, for a less formal meal (without the babbling fashionista) the tapas style San Carlo opposite is bloody lovely, with the benefit like all tapas of being able to have lots of different dishes.

Well, we tried Avalanche on Saturday night and I have to say it was brilliant. The food was fantastic, the setting was fabulous and the staff were absolutely spot on. Will definitely be returning there.

Rosso is quite nice. It's a bit "Wags and wannabes" though. It's very busy/loud too.

If you're going with the Mrs then be careful not to get caught looking at the skirt that's in there hoping to meet a footballer...
