Bronze turkey with black feather residue

I bought a turkey today. Apparently a bronze which looked to be good quality and a bit more free range than a water-filled offering from a supermarket.

However, where it's been plucked of its feathers, in some areas on the breast and leg there is a black stem from the feather left in the skin. I can pluck some out with my fish tweezers but not all of them.

Will they be okay left in or what?

I don't know the answer tbh. However i'm more interested in why you would buy your xmas turkey so early!

Our turkey had these as well last year. I spent a good two hours trying to pull them out with a very small pair of tweezers from a swiss army knife.
I gave up once my hand cramped up and I couldn't straighten my fingers.

I shouldn't have bothered as those that were left, didn't make a difference once the bird was cooked.

Is the turkey "long legged" (i.e. has it still got it's guts still in it)? If it's been dressed and I'm assuming it's for Christmas, then you need to freeze it...

With regards to the black feathers, or pin feathers, they are nothing to worry about
