That new honey JD stuff

I waited until I heard from someone who'd actually tried it before taking the plunge myself. Like many here I graduated from the standard JD onto finer things many years ago and haven't really looked back but, credit where it's due, that JD Tennessee Honey is a tasty drop. Not subtle, rather sweet and I expect it will divide opinion but probably 3:1 in favour. Currently on offer at Tesco for £19.something-or-other, too.

Separate topic but related: I now fancy a bottle of mead. Anybody else here drink it?

I've yet to try the JD honey, but I might be tempted to pick up a bottle over the weekend.
As for mead, I've only ever had a couple of bottles but love the stuff. I got some online last year but for the life of me cannot remember where. All the places I find it now want £15-20+ delivery. I've not found it in any shops local to me. Where do you get your from?

All going well I should be taking delivery of some bees next year and my plan is to brew my own mead.

I picked up a bottle of this today and I am impressed. I never drink spirits/whiskey etc straight but always mixed with something. However, this is different, a couple of ice cubes in it and it's very drinkable. As you've said it's very sweet, it does remind me of mead, only warmer.

I might just have to have another glass, just to make sure.

I love a good mead but the only place I've ever found that sold it in store was in Cardiff. Anyone have any links to a good online source?

I'll probably pick up some Jd honey for tonight, sounds interesting!

I bought my first bottle of mead at Dover castle gift shop. There are some online shops that stock some, keep looking.

Well, after searching high, medium and low, I eventually found a bottle of honey JD. Being in Guernsey certainly doesn't help with the location of slightly obscure spirits! Despite leaning towards the viewpoint that nothing produced by the most famous Tennessee sour mash distillery could really tantalise the taste buds, I must report that I am thoroughly impressed with this stuff!

Now, let us search for some good mead...

Picking up dinner tonight and spotted a bottle of this - picked it up on a complete whim (bit based on this thread, bit based on curiosity) - very glad I did - it is delicious!

Went looking round and only place I could find it was Selfridges food hall but they wanted £35 per bottle. Ended up going to the biggest Tesco I could think of at Beckton and they were selling it for £19. Got a bottle and really like it, more of a liquor really but lovley with a drop of ice

done have an online source atm, gimme a min, an will find out, but the best mead i have drunk is the lyme bay winery traditional mead, from a garden centre called nottcuts[they also do xmas decs and other stuff, although i only go in at xmas to get decs, an different types of fish, an other pets an stuff] its a gold award winner from the great taste awards 2010, and is yummy

My morrisons has had mead regularly on sale for at least a year. I forget the brand. I bought a bottle once, but wasn't sold, I got the honey notes, then something a bit...sweaty. Would like to know what a 'good' one is.

Whether it's any good or not I can't say. I tend to only drink mead once a decade when I've run out of any other booze in the house. Including meths and aftershave.

Lyme Bay Winery do a really good Mead. I believe they supply a lot of the alcohol at National Trust places as well.
