Good Dim Sum

Hi up in town on Saturday and fancy some good dim sum. Any recommendations around Chinatown or Victoria please?

If you start at the western end of Gerrard Street (the main pedestrianised street in China Town) there's a Chinese restuarant on the right about 30 yards in. It has a mosaic doorstep (from a previous life) which says something like 'Hotel de Boulogne'.

Awesome dim sum. I was first taken there for 'dimmies' by a chap from Hong Kong - he said it's the only place he goes to when he's in London. Have been many times since and always awesome.

Strangely, after 4pm, when dim sum stops being served, it's a rather 'samey' Chinky restaurant.

Went to Yauatcha a couple of weeks ago on Sunday. Fantastic dimsum, the restaurant was so busy we had to wait half hour for a table.
over ordered a little bit but still pretty good price. came to £46 for 7dishes and a bottle of water.

If your around Camden i would say to give YumCha a try. It looks a bit dingy but the dimsum is great.

Do they sell dim sum in the evening? My HK friend said that 'back home' they are served from 4am to 4pm; they're considered 'fast food', breakfast, elevenses, lunch kinda thing.

Of course, nothing stops anyone providing for local demand, but most restaurants switch to a full diner menu in the evenings.

Well, called into Yauatcha tonight and it was pretty damm good. Lovely food, great service and very nice surroundings.

Will definately go there again.

Big surprise was they didnt sell Chinese beer - two Japanese ones!

I always recommend Minjiang in the Royal Garden Kensington but that wasn't in the area!
