Used to, but it was delivered at midnight so it got warm overnight in the summer.

We use a lot of milk, but I don't believe that there is a local milk round.. It just makes sense to pick up 4 pinters from the supermarket..

Yes. Although we're down to 16 pints a week, from 22 at our peak, and we still occasionally run out.

Only 3, a 4 year old and 22 month twins. We also get through about 7 loaves of bread a week and tend to buy cheese in kilo blocks. I'm not looking forward to them getting older and even more hungry

No. No milk men any more. The supermarkets have pretty much stitched it up.

Milk delivered. With tropicana juice and plastic bread for toasting (kids like it). And eggs.

We can change the order online. Delivery around 7am. I like it.

Personally I don't since I can't bear the stuff, however my elderly neighbours do.

I suppose that a certain generation want the convenience / are stuck in the habit of fresh milk every day.

I do wonder what's done to supermarket milk to make it stay fresh as long as it does. When I was a child it was used the same day.

This. I was all in favour of supporting the local freshways when they offered their services on the doorstep.

Was most unimpressed when the first few deliveries was made at 23:15 and left on the doorstep overnight in 16 degree heat. Cancelled soon afterwards.

Yes. Suppose it's a hangover from the days when the milkie delivered every day (including Christmas Day) and just never stopped even though now they only deliver three times a week. Quantity purchased has dropped since the younger generation moved out - so there is more to spend on 'more interesting' drink in our dotage.

They still use electric floats round here.

Thanks for the replies so far, I'm aware it is cheaper at the supermarket (£1 for 4 pints) was just curious as to what people did as had a doorstep caller touting for business earlier today, offering delivery @ 4 pints for £1.71 which I thought wasn't too bad. When you consider the hassle for me of getting home from work and having forgotten we need milk having to go to the shop which although is a only 2 mile round trip having to do it 2/3 times a week gets annoying.

Parents used to have it delivered in the 70s/80s but stopped when the milk was delivered after they had gone to work/taken us to school as it spent all day on the doorstep, rather then fresh milk for breakfast

Last time I had someone touting for milk delivery they wanted a minimum order of 4 pints a week.
