Simple suggestions! I don't want your recipes.

What are your favourite add-ons to food improve a normal meal?
I enjoy cooking decent tasting food but can't be bothered following a recipe and I don't want to buy all the ingredients that you end up only using a pinch of. Instead I prefer to cook a standard meal then make some sort of sauce or something to add that makes it different.
A few examples of what I mean:
> mix up honey and wholegrain mustard and add to anything meaty/chips
> Green pesto and mayo on pasta (maybe some sundried tomatoes)
> Red peppers and tex-mex cream cheese
What are your suggestions for simple to make, no fuss flavourings that can transform a boring meal?

Had some roasted cod the t'other week and made a Salsa Verde to go with it.
Then used up the Salsa Verde on a cheese and bacon burger the next night. Definitely this months sauce of champions in my house (kids refuse to get involved mind) fish mongers this weekend and I'll be repeating.

I just tried this using pork and chorizo sausages along with a few orange segments thrown in the pan. Added a good spoonful of cranberry sauce for extra measure. Amazing!bacon, chorizo, marmalade, boobies*

Really needed a glass of red to top it off.
