its great not like that really dry rubbish you get in a pack from the sandwich meat packs.



its just over 4mm thick this slice ! lovely flavour not chewy like i find most is highly recommend it

If it is from the deli, maybe they just forgot to cut it wafer thin?

Personal preference is for lots of wafer thin slices in my bagel.

Is this the same stuff they have started putting on pizza with gherkins and mustard?

My local Morrisons doesn't have a "deli", just a couple of fridges with badly made generic sandwiches to cater for the inbred locals who are scared of anything "foreign". I think I'm in the lots of thin slices camp on this one though.

i usually am but all i have ever had before in this country was the really dry stuff. next time i will get it cut thinly when she cut it i asked for slightly thicker thinking thicker than wafer thin but instead got that great taste though and as i said not tough so it wasnt an issue it been that thick

It's Pastrami, it should never be dry, its been brined and boiled/steamed

i agree but the cheap ste in the supermarket always seems to be duff

Makro does some epic pastarami.

Just been to Morrisons and spotted a giant slab of pastrami at the deli.

Very tempted to purchase some but put off by the fact that all the ready cut slices seem as think as the OPs SS and asking for them to slice off the crust first before sorting some wafer thin slices for me seems a bit pedantic

Hopefully Waitrose will stock soon.

I do prefer my Pastrami sliced thinly. This doesn't have to be a compromise on quality though. There are a few good Polish delis near me* and I prefer their Pastrami slices wafer thin for my sandwiches.

• There is also one not-so-good one, whereupon eating a sausage, gherkin and mustard sandwich from there I was afflicted with terrible food poisoning. Mind you, it's a late night Turkish takeaway now, the Polish market side of things seems to have withered on the vine.
