Can I put a recipe meant for a loaf tin into muffin cases?

I normally make a banana loaf in a loaf tin but recently got some silicon muffin thingies. Can I just simply put the mixture into the cases rather than the loaf tin? I can't see why not but there may well be a reason not to do it.

I make banana loaf using a recipe for a loaf tin and have often put the mixture in to silicone muffin cases (for kids pack ups) with no problem. Just decreased baking time if I remember correctly.

Should be ok, I would assume if the silicon is designed for oven use, it will cope with the higher temp for bread.

Maybe stick the cases in empty for 15 minutes to see how they get on first?

Just make sure you reduce the cooking time and all will be good.

Thanks for the replies, I'll give it a go today and keep an eye on them towards the end.

I have no worries about the silicon in the oven as it's safe to something like 230 and I will be baking much lower than that (160 in a fan oven)

He's probably about spot on - I was going to suggest decreasing it by about a fifth .

I did indeed reduce the cooking time by about 15-20 minutes and they turned out lovely. Thanks for the tips.
