Any recommendations for a good / high end restarant in the centre Dublin?

Its for about 8 of us over there for the 6 Nations at the start of February.

Would prefer something French / modern as opposed to Indian or Chinese.

We have found a few places but they dont seem to be open on Saturday lunchtime!

I haven't been there for a couple of years, but always liked Fire on Dawson Street.

Quite an impressive building, both inside and out, and a walk of Lansdowne Road.

The mates from uni and I had our emigrants return home for Christmas dinner at the Blackboard Bistro on Clare St in the city centre. High quality French food, the house wine was lovely. Highly recommend it, and they handled a group of 16 in a small restaurant with no problems.

Weirdly, they don't have their own website, but here're some very good reviews: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g18...

The cellar restaurant and Patrick guilbaud at the merrion hotel. Dead central

If you like Thai, diep le shaker not far away is highly recommended

Where you staying?

Chapter One is a 1* in the city center, on Parnell Square. They certainly do lunch.
L'Gueuleton is worth a check

Rolly's Bistro is near to Lansdowne, and is well thought of, but busy and I thought it was decidedly average.

Seasons at the Four Seasons Hotel by the RDS (again near Lansdowne) is very good.

My personal favorite however is Eden in Temple Bar (don't worry, it is an oasis of class in amongst the rest!)

Restaurants in Dublin aren't great, there are a few belters but most are mediocre at best and well overpriced.

The chapter 1 is great and the chef's table is a treat if there are a few of you. Guilbaud is decidedly average ( a Michelin mistake IMHO).

If you are staying around Ballsbridge, the restaurant at the Dylan hotel is very good. However, if you want my personal favourite it would be the restaurant at Residence. It's a private members club, the restaurant is open to the public and you have access to all the bars in there. it's smack bang on St Stephens green so very central and a 15 min walk from the Aviva.

Dublin will be packed that weekend so book early !

PS great Guinness in Davey Byrnes

Have to agree on both points. Was down there just before Xmas for a weekend (also lived there for 3 yrs) and was very disappointed with the food.

Went to Carluccios on sat night as couldn't be bothered walking anywhere else and found it very reasonable and quite good.

Dunne and Crescenzi is a nice Italian restaurant. Decently priced too.

Pasta Fresca is the Mrs and my favorite Italian. Was a student until I left Ireland, so didn't have too much money back then so haven't tried out the very top end of places there.
