Halogen ovens.
Discussion
I got one for Christmas two years ago... never used it. Gave it away in the end.
The theory is good, they do save electricity compared to a standard oven. But on the minus side, they take up valuable worktop space, and you have to clean them every time you use them... with a normal oven you only clean it once every 6 months.
(just thought - because I tend to cook using metal trays which I cover in foil to avoid any extra washing up, then I guess the halogen oven would also save me the cost of the foil.)

Similar situation with me (home at Christmas with the parents and they swear by theirs)...
Plus points according to them are better control over the cooking (one can see the food inside easily and there's less 'inertia' involved with regard to changing the temperature as things brown or fail to) and... it's an easy way to to 'extend' the oven's capacity when required (i.e. yes it does take up work-top space, but they just store it away when not required!)

Any more opinions on these? There's some coming up in Aldi which I'm tempted with since I don't really need to use a full sized oven most of the time.
Just to note that when I got mine they cost over £100... I'd say that at the price they are now, they're pretty good value.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
