Do not skin the melon before fanning.

Cut into quarters, scoop seeds etc out, then chop into slices as thick as you want. Remove the skin after if you want, or just leave it.

Not far off. Cut melon in half, scoop out pips, slice off ends just a bit so each half sits upright. Fill void with port, consume smile

Much easier than FANnying about and you get about 30x as much melon, nom.

No no, soad had it right with the vodka.

Buy the melon a week or so in advance, cut a small hole in it (keep the cut out as a plug) and feed it with good glug of vodka every day.

Are you making melon flavour vodka here or vodka flavoured melon?

Cut a watermelon into chunks removing skin and as many pips as you can and freeze. Once they're frozen drop them into a blender with tequila, cointreu and lime juice.

Watermelon margharitas FTMFW.

The best variation on this theme that I've tasted is Charentais melons, halved, de-seeded and filled with chilled floc de Gascogne.

Don't refrigerate the melons, or it will kill the scent and the taste !
