Help!!!

My girlfriend is really interested in giving cake decorating/making (the one where you make really intricate details like flower petals and things) and has got a really good book etc. My original present idea for her cannot happen anymore and so I was hoping to get her a good set of cake-decorating 'tools' or something along those lines (I've seen a really cool tool-box but it's in America and costs a bloody fortune). I also saw http://www.ecrater.co.uk/p/10936544/wilton-profess... which looks cool but the website looks dodgy and that's also in America.

It's a long shot but does anyone know what would be the best sort of thing to get and where I could get them from? It's pretty urgent in case I need to order them online.

Thanks in advance.

You can get a turn table for a cake, so when you decorate it, you turn the
table/cake, rather than her have to keep moving around it.

I just Googled cake turn table and it's there, HTH.

Edit for grammah n speeling

The Craft Company at Leamington Spa is very good.Tel 01926 888507.
Basic equipmentfor modelling flowers - small rolling pin and boards, modelling tools, petal cutters, selection of powder colours, tweezers, sponge foam, sable hair paint brushes, cocktail sticks, small pallete knife and crimpers are all every useful to start with.
Which book have you got her?
idea Maybe a Sugarcraft course would be very helpful and perhaps the above company would help you as to whereabouts you would find one.
Start with the toolbox and add equipment to it.

Pity you're not in my area - I know someone who's just about to start giving cake decorating lessons, sugar flowers, the lot. It's getting quite popular apparently.

www.RUCraft.co.uk has a great selection of cake making books and gear. I highly recommend books by Maisie Parish, Lindy Smith and Zoe Clark. Good luck!

My mother is fully trained in the art of sugarcraft & cake decorating, the most useful tools for her were;

Petal cutters
Round ended tools to flatten out aforementioned petals
Turntable as mentioned
Sharp flat blade (think almost flat headed screwdriver)
A good piping bag and nozzles
Small paintbrushes

That should be good enough for most things.
