Supermarket Xmas delivery - book it quick...

Last night SWMBO commented that one of her friends where we used to live can't get a supermarket delivery slot for two days before Christmas... And this morning when I tried to book something there's nothing available after 20th

So, who else has missed the boat?

Radical idea. You could actually just go to the shop yourself. Just dont go during the day go to the 24 hour supermarket late at night.

No but I have grandparents from Orkney. Try getting to the supermarket up there in winter.

I hate shopping at this time of the year.

I use the local butcher and the local farm shop, soI will only have to use the supermarket for my other goods this week, then won't go back until the New Year.

I never use delivery for fresh produce as I like to inspect before I buy.

I think I only booked mine on Monday for 22nd, and all 23rd was gone then, but 24th free - no one trusting them that last minute I guess.

With Waitrose they would endeavour to get a replacement out to you ASAP - at the very least that day but preferably within a couple of hours.

In my experience they just refund you the cost, and you go without...

It seems to vary depending on your store, but that was the desired standard as I understood.

Imagine rejecting some cuts of meat 2 days before christmas.......how likely would they replace?

I find it all works quite well if I balance a delivered main supermarket shop, buying fresh meat and veg whichis pretty standard and have had before, with using the local butcher, greengrcer and baker. I've been surprised at some of the deals they do and they're keen to give you exactly what you want.
