Let's challenge the "ding ding" dinner / "ready meal" society". You've had a long day at work. come home, and want to pop to a supermarket and buy some ingredients to quickly rustle up a decent meal for two.

Rules are - all ingrediants must be available at a mainstream supermarket, and the meal must take 30 min to cook from start to finish.

I think this is quite tough actually, but I think has the makings of a great recipe thread. My contribution below.

But the metallic element of the security sticker was a stock thing I suppose they add to all plastic packed food, including the pierce and microwave stuff.
Good idea for a thread though! :-)

Jacket potato x 2
Mature grated cheese
Bacon
Small tin of beans
Sea salt
Olive oil

1. Wash the jackets, dry, poke the crap out of them with a fork and stick in the microwave on full power for 7 minutes

2. Pull them out of the microwave and coat them in olive oil and massage sea salt into the skin

3. Stick them in the halogen cooker on 200*C for 10 minutes

4. 5 minutes before the timer is up, microwave your beans and cook the bacon

5. Cut the Jackets in half, slob a load of butter in, top with beans, top with cheese, top with cut bacon

6. 2 minutes in microwave on medium heat to melt the cheese

Oh........... you can't use a microwave hehe But it's only 20ish minutes and filling biggrin

Pasta Shells.
300g chicken
2 leeks
1 onion
Bacon Lardons
1c can Heinz cream of chicken soup
1x Campbells condensed chicken soup

Boil pasta as you like it. Whilst boiling, chop chicken and fry, add bacon lard ons, add on chopped leeks and the onion. Once browned slightly, mix condensed soup and Heinz together and microwave to make s thick chicken sauce.

Mix all of the above together.

Makes s cracking meal for two, just add more stuff for more people.

I cook the chicken in garlic olive oil and add in some herbs and pepper whilst cooking.

Just a thought.

Must be cooked in 30 minutes
Must be able to buy ingredients in a supermarket

Not that tough really is it?

LSI's 10 minute Rice and Peas.

Boil a kettle.
Just before the kettle has finished boiling put a dash of olive oil in a saucepan and turn the heat on.
Pour the hot water in to the hot saucepan.
Crumble a whole chicken OXO (fnarr) cube in to the water.
Put two heaped handfuls of quick cooking white rice per person in to the water.
Stir occasionally with a metal fork.
When the rice is about a minute away from fully cooked add in half a pint of frozen peas per person.
When cooked, drain water away and serve in a bowl with lashings of dark soy sauce.

A proper winter warmer.
Cheap.
Easy.
Quick.
A good base to add other stuff to. ie bacon, chicken etc.
