Recommend a fryer?

Deep fat fryer seems to be on the fritz. Suggestions on something decent as a replacement please?
It seems there are a few more alternatives now in the form of the Actifry and the Philips Air Fryer and possibly some others that I'm not even aware of.
The criteria are (ideally) less mess, nice chips, and uses less fat both in quantity and in terms of how much the food soaks up.
